Motorcycle key programming

The motorcycle key programming module for BMW-Explorer allows you to write keys, including the complete loss of keys, edit VIN, reset mileage and system time, read and write ISN, replace X-SLZ and X-EWS electronic units while maintaining working keys.

To program the keys, perform a quick test, go to the electronic unit «Motorcycle electronic Immobilizer»:

     Click «Extra options» then «Key Learning»:

In the window that opens, on the left is a list of available slots for programming. The values «FF FF FF FF» mean that the slot is free for writing. Any other value means the slot is busy:

You can also free up a slot for recording, instead of a lost key. Right-click on the key you want to delete and click «Erase key»:

To write the key, first read the ISN/SK from the ECU. Click «Read ISN/SK in ECU»:

If the ECU is locked, the program will offer to program (unlock) the unit. Click «Yes»:

In the window that opens, click «Unlock X-EWS/X-SLZ»:

Wait for the end of programming:

If for some reason the programming ended with an error and the electronic unit remained in the programming mode, press «Update orig» this will restore the unit. Then start the key programming procedure again:

After successful programming (unlocking) of the electronic unit, the program will read ISN/SK and show the result:

     Next, click «Write»:

Then select the type of writable key:

The program will warn you that after programming the key, the transponder will be locked. Click «OK»:

At the request of the program, bring the key to the coil and do not remove it until the end of the recording. If the key is not programmed for a long time, try removing it from the coil for a few seconds and bringing it up again. Usually programming takes about 1 minute:

After successful programming, the program will write «Key programmed OK»:

After programming, need to check the key data. Check VIN and status. Status should be «Transponder Locked»:

The status «Transponder not Locked» indicates that the programming ended with errors or the transponder does not fit this motorcycle. This key will not work. The transponder must be as close as possible to the original and not prepared for any car or motorcycle. VVDI emulators will also not work with this type of immobilizer.

Original keyless keys (with comfortable access) do not require preparation or marking.

Now let's take a closer look at the programming (recovery) of the electronic unit in the case of programming with an error and the subsequent closing of the programming window. Go to «Motorcycle electronic Immobilizer» or «Unknown Unit», click «Extra options» then «Program ECU»:

Select the SWFL from the list corresponding to your electronic unit and click «OK»:

     Then click «Update orig»:

Wait for the end of programming:

Now the electronic unit is restored and you can start the procedure for programming keys again.
