Removing and installing/replacing instrument panel trim, bottom right

Note: Move front passenger seat completely towards rear.

Turn locks (1) 90°. Carefully remove trim panel (2) and disconnect respective plug connection. Installation note: Make sure trim panel (2) is correctly seated in corresponding mountings.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Detach edge protection (1) in area of side trim panel (2). Detach side trim panel (2) from clips (3) in direction of arrow using special tool 00 9 325 and remove. Installation note: Replace faulty clips (3). Position side trim panel (2) prefitted with clips (3) on matching holes and snap into place.

Release screw (1). Press BDC control unit slightly upwards and slide it towards the centre of the vehicle to release it from the bracket. Installation note: Make sure BDC is correctly located in bracket.

Detach cover (1) at catches (2) and remove from BDC control unit (3).

Unfasten and unplug all electrical connectors (1) in marked area. Carefully fold carpet in footwell to the side a little way. To release the positive battery lead, manoeuvre out the BDC control unit (2) sideways towards the door opening.

Important! Risk of damage to positive battery cable connector! Unlock the positive battery cable connector: Loosen lock (1) in direction of arrow. Unfasten catch (2) on positive battery lead connector (3). Remove positive battery lead connector (3) in direction of arrow. Remove the BDC control unit (4) from footwell.
