To replace the DME MSD80 MSD81 MSD85 MSV80 and other Siemens ECUs with Tricore mcu inside, you must perform the following steps.

The procedure is different for cars equipped with EGS 6HP and 8HP

To replace DME Siemens-EWS4 with EGS 6HP, you first need to get  ISN (Secret key) from the DME.

To do this, connect to DME press "Extra options" then "ISN / PSW", Explorer will offer you to program the ECU, agree with this and click to program.

ATTENTION: For programming you need to fulfill several conditions !!

Provide the car with the necessary power using extra charger.

If programming is done using laptop PC, make sure that the battery is charged for the entire programming time, or connect PC to the charger.

Switch OFF "sleep mode" !!! Also it is necessary to turn ignition ON !! (Without turning on the ignition you can not successfully program the unit)

After successful programming, close the programming window, after that Explorer displays ISN (16 bytes secret key), and saves it in a separate file in the logs.

These 16 bytes must be written into the CAS as described HERE.

If everything went well, go to the DME, press "additional functions" then "EWS Status" which must show "permission to run "Yes"

To replace DME Siemens-EWS4with EGS 8HP, it is necessary to write the ISN (Secret key) into the DME itself, since EGS uses the same 16 bytes for its authorization.

Therefore, to replace DME Siemens with EGS 8HP, you need to use BMW-Explorer together with ECU-Explorer.

First of all you need to read (PSW) password from DME using BMW-Explorer.

To do this, connect to DME, press "Extra options" , press "ISN / PSW", Explorer will offer you to program ECU , agree and press "Program".

After successful programming, close the programming window, after that Explorer PSW (password of the processor) and saves it in a separate file in the logs.

Now using this password you can connect the control unit using wiring diagram listed in the ECU-Explorer's manual, select DME type you need and read data from DME.

Change the ISN (Secret key) and press "Write". Remove resistors from the Boot Pins and install the unit into the car.

P.S: If the programming is interrupted or ended with an error for some reason, update the DME with Winkfp or ISTA-P and repeat reading the ISN (Secret key) or PSW
